Catch up

Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving break - we definitely did! While I don't have pictures of Turkey day, I do have this randomness to share.
I am thankful for too many things/people to list but tops would be these three:
Again, the purple princess dress, and her animals/dolls all lined up.  Apparently there was some sort of ruckus in play land as all animals these days are sporting bandaids.
Not happy about something and the hair to prove it....
Aaannddd, happy again
Ryan is really embracing the notion of picking out her own clothes lately and she can come up with some doozies. So if you ever see us in Target or at the grocery store and she's looking like this, please know we are merely allowing her to make her own decisions and we are not in fact on welfare.
Another favorite past time, rolling up the rug. Unrolling. Rolling. Unrolling.
 Riveting.

Fa-la-la-la-la

Oh no we di'int....Of course we did. Holiday decor is up. Christmas tunes are blaring. The Grinch is on a 24/7 rotation on our family room TV.
Ryan has been excited for weeks now to be in charge of putting the star on the tree so clad in her princess dress (which could walk on its own seeing as she wears it at some point every day), the Rams losing in the background, and her dad's help, the Christmas tree is complete.
Take a guess as to who did this.....No, not Grant people, come on...be nice. This was a Ryan/Reese combo. I'm going to guess Santa was in time-out since that seemed to be the theme of the day prior to decorating.  And apparently my girls are dyslexic.
We quickly learned that Reese + ornaments = disaster waiting to happen. The current state of our trees (we have a smaller one in our front room), is pretty much a Santa Mullet. Except the party is up top and the bottom is all bare. Nothing like a half decorated Christmas tree to celebrate the season. Martha Stewart would not approve. But then again, she doesn't live with Reese.
Speaking of my crazy monkey, my stinkin' 20 month old completely mastered and outsmarted her crib. Such a sad day on Saturday as we had to say goodbye to the crib and put the lady in a big girl bed. Someone tell life to slow down.

Night cap

This is an old video (taken back in January I think), we posted it months ago but darn it if it doesn't make me laugh and smile everytime I replay it.

Good night!

What happens when you refuse to nap...

You fall asleep at 5pm sitting up in a chair.

Better late than never....

We finally got around to sprucing up Reese's room. For almost 20 months now the girl has slept in a rather boring, ho-hum environment. And to know Reese is to know she is about the furthest thing from boring. As you may notice with my girls, neither would be considered girly-girls so I new we weren't going to go all pink up in here and instead opted for red.  I made a curtain for her closet door (which we removed to add more space to her tiny room, same as we did with Ryan)  using the clearance sheet set I had in the closet.   The three fabric squares were found at a garage sale for a quarter a piece. "Reeses" mini-lunch box thanks to dad's late night e-bay shopping problem hobby.
I need to swap out the pink baskets for something else, but this was about a $20 budget redo project using items we already had.
This wall could still use a little help but we'll wait till Reese ditches the crib and we can rearrange some furniture...thanks to Grandma for the letters and Ryan for painting them.

Her eventual big-girl bed. Currently doubling as a trampoline.

Sneak peak....

My trusty helper has been at my side getting some much needed house projects d-o-n-e.
Stay tuned, but let's just say that after 20 months Reese finally has a decorated bedroom.

Sunday Spencers Series

is back!!!! With two very special guest appearances.
Thanks for the invite Ryan!

You know you have kids when....

You find the following randomness about your house:
A dish towel in the fridge, which is apparently where all the cool kids hang out as both girls are constantly in and out of it fighting for the string cheese.
A lunch sack containing a can of Cream of Chicken and three packets of popcorn. "I made lunch for my dolls mom" - Ryan
Seriously girls? Had to choose the red marker for your latest drawing escapades...
You keep life entertaining, that's for sure.

Howdy Cowboy!

So dad went on Spring Break 2011 a work trip two weeks ago and brought back some lovely, child friendly Bud Light paraphernalia. The fan favorite? This guy....
Belly showing, fly down, seriously could she be any classier people?
But she is so darn cute, I could eat that little cowgirl for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Giving Thanks....via a 3 year old

Perhaps I missed the mark on my 'thankful' lesson with Ryan. As we put together our Thanksgiving tree and I asked her to list some things/people she was grateful for, the girl opted for slightly more materialistic items.....
Candy
Popsicles
Boxes
Tape
Soccer Balls
I for one am thankful for these little hellions.....and tape too, because let's face it, life would really blow without some scotch tape.
Raise your hand if you're as pumped as I am that radio stations are now playing Christmas music!

Houston, we have a winner....

Finally.  FINALLY a restaurant in which we dare take Reese and she actually sit still the entire meal.
Thank you Carl.
Not to be confused with Carls Jr. which is where I thought Grant was taking me on one of our first dates when he said 'I've got a special little burger place to take you to'....Picture me sitting there thinking 'seriously Carls Jr., it's special alright'.  Actually though, I liked him...a lot, so I thought even Carls Jr. would have been cute.
Carls Drive-In.  Tiny little Carls.  With the best darn slider burgers around.
And even better, only counter seats which proved to be key to keeping the Reesers entertained - she was mesmerized by the man grilling the meat.
Now that we have unearthed the secret, we will only be eating at Carls and possibly Hibachi Steakhouses from now on....

Ryan. Times ten.

Sometimes there are no words to describe her personality....Seeing is believing. I couldn't love her more. And clearly, she couldn't love herself more either.
Special thanks to savvy Grandma for nabbing some after-Halloween clearance costumes as dress-up options for Ryan....she was in heaven. "Mom, it's perfect for practicing my ballet"
Happy Friday!

School pictures

How adorable is the addition of the whicker chair?  Taking the cheese up a notch but with oh-so-adorable results.
