So this is basically just a bunch of randomness from my little head to your viewing eyes......
1. I realized I have to start dinner preparation at about 3:45pm each day if I want to have something complete and nutritious by 6:30pm. I have two people to thank for my ridiculously long cooking process......children #s 2 & 3. Emerson for obvious cute, baby related reasons and Reese for some ridiculous potty training related disasters. Thanks to our friend
Tiffany (and I suppose more importantly Logan), I yanked the damn pull-ups again. We did a whole big 'bye pull-ups, I'm a big girl' party. Reese knows when she
should go #2 and where #2s
should end up but she is still stubbornly holding on to the belief that they are to exit in underwear and then not so carefully transported into the potty. Alas, I have more bathroom cleanups than I care to imagine and back to the whole dinner preparation thing, on more than one occasion I have had to take a 20 minute detour to the bath or shower in the midst of dredging some chicken or cooking rice (complete with Emerson attached to me in the Baby Bjorn....awkward, frustrating and uncomfortable is an understatement). We have since had one #2 success....still waiting to see if that is followed up with another...stay tuned
2. My latest obsession have been the online shopping sites
: Joss and Main, One Kings Lane and The Foundary. The items change daily and range considerably
in price - but there are often inexpensive home decor finds for anyone on a budget.
3. The Bachelor is my guilty pleasure every week.
4. We've been on a healthy eating overhaul since Emerson's arrival and I pleased to say I am now a fan of quinoa and kale. Not sure the rest of the family would agree, but props to Grant for at least trying my crazy healthy concoctions. This quinoa
recipe is my favorite thus far and I was pleasantly surprised at just how much I actually like plain ole steamed kale. On the totally unhealthy front, our neighbor made us these little
dessert snacks and they are hands down a family favorite.
5. It only took 5+ weeks but I finally felt confident enough yesterday afternoon during nap time to sneak in a shower. Normally I wait until Grant is home to man the nuthouse before jumping in. Granted it wasn't the longest or most relaxing shower with a baby monitor blaring away, but it happened. And I am clean.
6. The littlest lady is starting to smile.....and non-gas related we think. Precious.
7. I've been very lucky that between my parents and a mom friend at Ryan's school, that up until last week, I didn't have to take all 3 kids up to Ryan's school to pick her up and drop her off. Twice a day. Four days a week. Despite offering to continue helping, I figured I better face reality and all last week did the deed myself. It didn't hurt that we had some nice weather. And guess what....it wasn't that bad. Taking the stroller is key as the car seat itself starts to feel like a ton of weights if I carry it and the stroller also keeps Reese at bay because she is my #1 steerer (
not a word, but it is now). Plus, since we're all loaded up in the car anyway, it's the perfect excuse to make a Starbucks run:) Seeing as a drive-thru coffee shop is usually the outside-world highlight of our day during the week.
8. Emerson is damn cute, evidence below:
That's it for now....
