Yikes. September was my last post. Pretty poor blogging. Stop yelling.
So lots has happened since then - the short version being we are currently homeless:) We sold our Kirkwood home back in February and are currently living with my folks until we can move into our new home this summer.
Longer version: while not necessarily looking to move, we had exhausted all options with our old house (additions, renovations, etc...) and the cost to do anything worthwhile (space wise) was RIDICULOUS. We had gotten to the point where we thought, let's just live with it as is, save money and some day bulldoze the house and build something we love. But that was neither realistic nor ideal for this impatient girl and 3 growing girls. One night I was searching Zillow (as I am known to do) and stumbled across this house that had been on the market for a few months out in Chesterfield near my folks. I sent it to Grant and he, who usually is quick to "NO" my west county requests was open to this one. We set up a showing, loved it, low balled an offer and the sellers laughed. But the neighborhood got our wheels spinning - we decided regardless of the house, we would sell ours and wait and find something in this particular neighborhood. We got the house ready and on day 1, at our first open house, we were shocked and pleasantly surprised to have received multiple offers. Our little flat-roofed, funky looking buddy appealed to other people - we were ecstatic. The next morning, we called back the original house we low-balled, raised the offer just a bit and bam...we bought a house. Only catch.....(as there always is, right?) - they pushed the closing date back to mid-June. Remember...this is January when we were negotiating. June was so. far. away. But, here we are, May comes tomorrow and the end is in sight. Life at my folks has been enjoyable and they've been beyond patient and kind to host the 5 of us for this long but it'll be nice to have a house back. The girls transferred schools at the end of February and now, even though its only been about 8 weeks, it seems like forever and we're happy we did. I can't even fathom had I opted to drive them back and forth to Kirkwood 2-3 times a day until the end of the school year.
I hope to do a better version with photos and blogging but I've said that many times before. I'm so behind that I hope you can just do a mental picture of the girls dressed up for Halloween, obligatory Christmas photos and the cuteness of Emerson's second birthday. Good. We're all caught up. So, on this sunny, 70 degree, spring day, here are some shots from a snow filled day back in February:/
and come June, we will call this guy our new home....we're pretty pumped!
