Hotel Fun!

Not knowing how the girls would fare on the road-trip to Dallas, we played it safe and opted to stop in Tulsa for the night on the way down.  Mom and dad killed it.  They were the coolest-people-ever in the eyes of Ryan and Reese.  Thank you to the Hyatt Place Tulsa for elevating our parenthood status!  From the minute they walked in the hotel room, you could see their eyes light up - shifty little Ryan knew immediately she had a run of the place and Reese followed suit.

Couch jumping!  This sport has been banned in Missouri but apparently those nice Oklahomians still allow it...
Reesey loved herself some bell cart...smooth ride, good tread on the wheels, this ones a keeper.
Ryan getting into the swing of things....
 literally
Tears of joy and happiness....Reese was laughing so hard she looked like she was crying
Can we just move in here mom?

The face of the happiest hotel toddler you can find (pre-haircut...of course)

Bringing in 2009 in style!

Ryan had quite the start to her first new year --- we headed out to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl Parade (one of the perks of mom's job) and then we flew through Dallas to spend time with Ella, Barclay, Roberto, Erica, Grandma Pegs and the entire Dallas gang.  Ryan really enjoyed her first vacation, seeing as she got away with murder:  sleeping in the killer hotel bed with mom and dad, being allowed to nurse (room service) through the night (as mom was scared the rest of the hotel guests would not appreciate a crying baby), and being spoiled by her grandparents.

Resting up with dad before the big trip:
On my fourth airplane ride so far - I'm an old pro at this...
My first night in California - lounging in style at Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica.  Grandma teaches me the best things!!!  I love wine!
Cruisin' up the coast to Malibu - lunch at Gladstones.
My first trip to the ocean!
My first steps on the beach - I could get used to this!
This little piggy went to the beach....
First steps in the ocean.  (Well, I suppose 'steps' is stretching it a bit - first 'being forced to feel the cold water by my parents for a photo op' would be more appropriate).
Can't we buy a home near all the famous celebs on this beach?
My own personal walking partner - Grandma and Grandpa pushed me all over Pasadena!
This is truly the life - high thread count sheets, a king size bed, nothing but a towel.  I have it made!
I'll take a nice sunset with my dinner please.
Drinking water out of a glass is hysterical!
When you travel with Grandma & Grandpa you get to try all sorts of new things - this time I got bread!  Yummy...
So excited to sit in a high chair and eat with my peeps!
Returning home - back to reality.  As you can see, I'm not too pumped to return to the cold, Missouri weather and some tough love in order to get me back on my sleeping schedule.
But, then again, I'm only 6 months old and my memory is short.  Playing on the ground, at home with my blocks, is just as fun as sunny California!!

Ryan goes to Texas to see her Great Grandma Pegs!

This past weekend was terrific in so many ways. Ryan took her fourth plane ride and Dad learned that traveling by yourself with a baby is a nerve racking experience (wow!). She was a doll on the way down (slept the entire flight) and then cried throughout the Love Field airport. The main focus of this trip was to introduce Ms. Ryan to her Great Grandma Pegs (Margaret Stiff). Pegs is a LOYAL reader of the blog, an amazing woman, mother, grandmother and great grandmother many times over. Pegs is about to be 98 years young and sharp as hell. I can't say enough about how truly magnificent this special lady is - trust me...she is on the ball and then some! We also got to see Grandma Ella (my mom). Ryan cleaned up at the toy store with Ella and had mucho fun at bath time. Here are some pics from the trip!

You look good next to those colors!
Bathtime with Ella!

Air-drying is the way to go, especially if you have diaper rash!

Can I sleep here?

"Hold My Hand"....Hootie & the Blowfish

My new friend Lilly...

We went to Highland Park Pharmacy for lunch -- I slept most of the time but did wake up to smile at Grandma Pegs. The Pharmacy has been around forever, my grandparents went on dates there back in the 1800's, or something like that...

Saying goodbye for now...

While the parents are away, the baby will play....

Ryan is enjoying her little 'vacation' with Grandma and Grandpa --- no rules, plenty of treats, and lots of spoiling; our little girl currently has it made.
Her first ride on the tram at DIA.
Ryan prefers the window seat.
2 days at Grandma's and she already has her own car.

Cousin Jack is not too happy he has to share Grandpa (aka - the inheritance).
The Aliance - don't mess with this crew.

Watching football with Grandpa.
Two studs: Grant and Jack

A thoughtful message to mom:
Our precious little angel!!!!!
